Daytona Beach

I was planning to do a day-by-day update of this page; however, it was a lot more difficult to get to the computer than I expected. I will tell you just a few of my adventures and misadventures and then share some pictures.

I originally planned on renting a Dodge Charger because I am interested in purchasing one. I thought this would be a good opportunity to drive one and see how I like the handling and other performance. Well, when I arrived the agent at the rental car location informed me that he had two choices for me, a Toyota Corrolla at no change in charge or a GMC Yukon for a reduced additional rate. I took the Yukon because I really like big trucks and I am also considering purchasing a truck when I buy a vehicle.

The room was suite (please, pardon the pun). The bed was comfortable, the layout was very large, and view was great.

After the first day of the course I was attending, I decided to go to the NASCAR Experience at the Daytona International Speedway. The tour of the track, the explanation of the history of racing in Daytona, and the informative explanation of the car were good. I was not a race fan. I am still not a race fan. But the experience at the track was nice and I would recommend it for anyone, whether or no they enjoy NASCAR.

I also had the opportunity to go to the beach. In fact, I was able to see the sun rise over the Atlantic. It would have been a lot nicer to do this company, especially a companion of the opposite sex; however, I was flying solo. It was nice anyway.

For all my friends who enjoy King of the Hill, this anecdote is for you. I was driving one of the course participants back and forth from the programs because he did not rent a car. Well, on the way to the course we went to a Krispy Kreme—an old one that did not have any seats or anything. It was quaint and nice. The guy explains to me that he really enjoys Krispy Kreme, but he usually gets those donuts at a supermarket or convenience store; he had never been to a real Krispy Kreme. Well, the “Hot” sign was on and he ordered two glazed donuts. The cashier proceeded to the preparation area and took two donuts off of the conveyer belt and handed them to him. As soon as he took a bite he began to comment on how great the donuts were hot—they were normally very good, but hot they were great. I told him that he now be considered a man because he had a donut “off-the-line.”

I hope you enjoy the pictures below:

Headin' to the Beach

I'm gone for the week! I'm going to Daytona Beach for work. It is a difficult assignment, but I am sure I can handle the task.
The only problem--Shark Week was on Discovery Channel last week. Now, I'm afraid to go in the water! (I think I'll get over my fear quickly.)
