Reflections

I have not blogged in a while and with school starting I will not have very many things to blog about for quite a while. However, I thought I would let you into a couple of my thoughts over the past few days. WARNING: Some of these thoughts have come to me while day dreaming during philosophy and chapel!

Philosophically speaking, if one rejects a valid and sound argument, does that make the individual philosophically deaf?

When do I get to be in the “real world”? I remember when my dad was leading a Bible study at church for youth and mentioned that we were not in the real world. Many of us high school age youth took issue with him. I had professors, Sunday School teachers, and even friends suggest that while I was in college I was not in the real world. The chapel speaker today alluded that we were not yet in the real world. Why don’t I get to live there, or at least visit?

I got a raise! Actually, it was a four percent cost of living increase. Here is the deal, over the past year my rent has doubled and energy cost have risen at least 33%. My two primary expenses have increased at a rate about ten times the amount of the cost of living increase. I am fortunate, with my extra three dollars a day, I can buy a bag of cookies in the cafeteria or I could save it all week and order a pizza or something.

My Parent’s Came to Town

This past weekend, my parents came and visited me in New Orleans. I was working this weekend, but I during my time away from work we were able to visit the French Quarter and the Aquarium. I hope you enjoy the pictures, because there are many, many more.

Grillin’ Out

This past weekend I was given three days in a row off of work, which is a rare commodity around the hospital pharmacy. So I traveled home and got to spend the extra time with my parents. On Friday evening, I grilled out for them, so I thought I would share a couple of pictures with you guys.

Visitors!

This past weekend I had visitors! Joni, Clay, and Daniel came to check-out the apartment and tour the campus of UNO. After they arrived on Sunday, we went to the French Quarter to get a little something to eat. We all had muffulettas at Café Maspero and then we went down the street a couple of blocks to Café Du Monde to have beignets.

Monday morning we slept in. After everyone awoke, we went to the University of New Orleans, where Daniel and Clay got to see the Film Department and the Library, among other things. On their way out of town, Joni brought the guys by NIMS, a collaboration between several parishes, the state, and the university, and they got a tour of the studio. It was nice having you guys visit!

Here are some pictures from Sunday night:
