Divine Hiddenness

I just finished a relatively short position paper for my Philosophy of Religion course. It is a Christian response to an argument which seeks to justify Atheism based upon divine hiddenness. You can read it if you would like. To provide the background for the paper, you may want to browse through the presentation Blake Wilbanks and I presented based upon the article and another response or you can purchase the book and read the article. Then you can read my position paper, Divine Hiddenness: A Christian Response to Schellenberg.

Minot Trip Day 6: Rerouted

Today was travel day and it should have been relatively short—leaving North Dakota after 10:00 a.m. and arriving in New Orleans around 4:00 p.m. It was supposed to be less than six hours of travel. However, it snowed in Minot overnight. It was nice to see snow, but I wanted did not want for it to delay my travel.

Delay my travel it did. The flight out of North Dakota was delayed long enough (partially due to the airplane’s late arrival and partially due to de-icing procedures) that I missed my connection in Minneapolis. Fortunately, the airline rearranged my travel—unfortunately they rerouted me through a different airport. Instead of arriving in New Orleans at 4:00 p.m., I was on an airplane preparing to land in Detroit!

I was a little frustrated because I’d planned to go to the UL baseball game tonight, but I would miss it because of the delay. I would, however, get a chance to revisit the Detroit airport, which I had flown through once before. Anyway, it worked out alright, the baseball game was delayed a day because of expected inclement whether in New Orleans. When I did arrive in New Orleans, I found that my baggage made the connection that I was unable to make in Minneapolis! Here are some pictures from the day:

Minot Trip Day 5: Rest

Today, we decided to sleep a little late and then do some tourists type things. We met Chris and Cashlin at their house and then went to a transportation museum in Minot. We tried to visit the Ward County Museum also, but it was closed.

We spent the afternoon just resting and playing with the baby. We have a day of travel and then right back to school and work. That is, if we get to leave tomorrow. The forecast for tonight is 3-6 inches of snow in the area. Hopefully, the airplanes will be able to take-off and land at the airport. Well, here are some pictures!

We did not take many pictures of the baby today, so here are some pictures from earlier in the trip that did not get posted earlier.

Why are they always taking pictures of me?

By the way, I changed Cashlin’s diaper for the first time today. I have changed a few other diapers, but I don’t like doing it. I avoided performing that tasks most of the trip, but I did it today. I think I deserve some kudos!

Minot Trip Day 4: Easter!

We did get to sleep in a little this morning, but then we had to get ready for church. My parents and I met Chris and Cashlin for church. Once there, we met Chris’ mother-in-law, Lisa.
After the Easter worship service, we went back to Chris’ house and burnt some meat on the grill. While doing this, we got to spend a little more quality time with Cashlin. Here are some pictures from the day!

Minot Trip Day 3: Return from Minnesota and Cashlin

Chris and I awoke early this morning to get on the road by 2:45 a.m. (that’s in the morning). We got on the roads, which were still icy, and traveled toward Bismarck, North Dakota, where we dropped part of our load, and then continued on to Minot. After finishing the paperwork for the load, we went back to Chris’ s house and got to visit Patti and the baby. Here are some pictures from the day.

Minot Trip Day 2: Minnesota

After getting in late, I awoke early to go and see Cashlin for the first time this trip. My parents got to see him yesterday when they arrived at the airport. They even had dinner with Chris and Patti and the baby. After I visited with the baby, I met Chris at his work for a trip with him to Minnesota--trucker style.

Our trip took us through many small towns in North Dakota. The roads were pretty good until we got to Minnesota, where snow was blowing across the road like the tumble weed of west Texas. The problem was that the snow would melt on the road and then refreeze as ice. We spent the night in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Here are some pictures of Cashlin, then some from the Friday portion of our trip.

Minot Trip Day 1: Travel

Today was travel day. It began after I left school and went back to the apartment to grab my bags. I had a couple of minutes, but used those doing some odds and ends around the place.

On my way to the airport, I wanted to go in to work for a couple of minutes to pick up my check stub (it was payday and all). On my way out, I realized that I spent a couple more minutes there than I wanted to and now would be late getting to the airport if there was much traffic.

While checking in at the airline, I remembered that I did not get a seat assignment when I purchased my ticket, which made me a little nervous, but hopeful that I would get the extra couple of inches of leg room that the exit row offers. Well, they had one gate agent for three gates and the flight at one of the other gates that was scheduled to leave an hour before mine was delayed. The gate agent spent so much time handling the delay that he had not provided any seat assignments to any of the six people that were waiting by the time another agent opened the flight for boarding. And the flight was overbooked!

Well, I made it to North Dakota a little late, but the flights were relatively uneventful. As I was waiting for my checked luggage, I heard a fellow passenger ask his girlfriend if she had brought his jacket. When she responded that she had not, he began to wine and cry saying that it was 16 degrees outside and he was going to be so cold. I walked up to him and told him to get over it, it was 16 degrees outside and I was wearing flip-flops!
