San Antonio Trip—Day 1: Running

My long anticipated trip to San Antonio (and away from work) began by me running. As always is the case, a short week at work means that there is no shortage of work—what you usually do in 5 days has to be done in less! This past week was no different, except that we were exceptionally busy.

I did not have an opportunity to complete some pretty mundane chores before leaving for work on Wednesday, which meant that when I got in from work I would have to wash my clothes and pack for my trip. That was not a problem until I didn’t leave work until 3:00 a.m. After getting home and getting these chores done, I was able to take a nap for two hours and then get ready to go to the airport.

Apparently each time I leave New Orleans for a trip a monsoon occurs. I always have to carry my bags in the rain and squeeze them into the cab of my truck. So I arrived at the airport soaking wet, but it was not that big of a problem because I would have plenty of time to dry off—my flight was delayed.

My flights were good and once we left New Orleans the weather was beautiful. Upon arriving in San Antonio, I picked up a vehicle and drove approximately four blocks to my motel. After running to get my work completed, running to get packed, running to get to the airport on-time (and somewhat dry), I was now running to the motel to get some rest! After taking a nap, I went to a restaurant near the hotel and got some dinner and then went back to sleep.

Sorry for not having any pictures, but that is the nature of traveling and not doing much other than flying. I’ll have some tomorrow from the baseball games!
